MEETING DOLLY
Dolly Parton is the most successful female country performer of all time. She is not only a singer, but a songwriter, actress, businesswoman, author, humanitarian, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. She is also one of the kindest and most inspiring women on the planet.
In 2011, when Dolly Parton’s ‘Better Day’ tour was coming to London, Kelly knew she had to meet her. She had been studying her for five years and had fallen in love with all she represented.
Kelly says: “When I met her, it was like magic. I was in complete awe. It was very surreal.”
“There is so much you want to ask Dolly Parton, but when I stood there next to her, I couldn’t think of anything to say… Luckily, she started chatting away about Dolly impersonators and how much she loves and values them.
This was incredible to hear. She gave me her blessing and I left. I was just so incredibly humbled by her presence. I will never forget that day as long as I live.
And my dream is to visit Dollywood and perform alongside her one day…
Well, we’ve all got to have dreams!”
